North Wales Branch 45 Years Old

on Jun 25, 2018 |

I was invited to attend North Wales Branch 45th Anniversary party and to present 25 year badges to Margaret Griffith and Elsi Prytherch. It was a lovely day out, and the weather and road conditions were excellent. I had a wonderful reception and was made to feel very welcome by all members who attended. Colourcraft were giving demonstrations and of course were selling goodies- fatal! as I easliy surcomed and bought some metallic brushos. I really needed them!!! I was told Margeret and Elsi felt very special to be presented with their badges in individual little boxes and framed certificates by myself. However they deserved to feel special as should all members who reach their 25 or 50year milestones. The spread of food provided by the members was brilliant, and so plentiful I took a doggy bag home. The cake which was made by a member, looked excellent and tasted it also- no style over substance there!! Below are some photos of the day, and hopefully I will be invited again for another event? NW Regional Day 21st April 2018

on Apr 28, 2018 |

The day could not have been better, the weather was just right (not too cold or too hot), the venue and staff were great, the food very tasty, the traders were pleased with their takings, and we had a good array of competition pieces and displays. James Fox, our speaker, was excellent, very amusing and extremely passionate about textiles and art. His work is quirky, but well executed. The event was fairly well attended, with 142 members from the Region. I think some of the new members who have never attended a Regional Day, will now be tempted to attend future events. My thanks go to the Regional Committee, and especially to the Branch members who helped on the day. Parbold, Glossop, Rochdale and Pendle. Also to the Branch members who made a raffle bag & filled it to the brim!!! We did extremely well on the raffle, and that was really down to the array of beautiful themed raffle bags and of course our persuasive members selling the tickets. The display of Regional work, and the work from Glossop Branch looked really good, and gave members an opportunity to look, discuss and enjoy the pieces at their leisure. My congratulations go to all the winners of the Competitions- Rose bowl 1st Pat Blincoe 2nd Sandra Kendall 3rd Barbara Ryall Aurifil 1st Jennifer Graham 2nd Barbara Ryall 3rd Sue Bennett Kathleen Mansfield Trophy- YE 1st Zoe Lewis 2nd Ester Lewis 3rd Bella Huthwaite All the YE groups were represented ie Merseyside, N Wales and Wirral and therefore all three groups were awarded a small group prize. I have included a few photos to wet your appetites         After seeing these I hope we get a volunteer Host for 2019 Regional Day- come on ladies.      ...
