We are a group of energetic, enthusiastic stitchers and textile artists who enjoy sharing work and ideas, alongside a passion for the discovery of new materials and textile techniques as well as recycling and re-purposing items. We have a good mix of skills and we actively welcome new creative inspiration, and also enjoy visiting textile shows and exhibitions. During the year, we run several talks and workshops led by either a visiting tutor or a branch member. These provide us with plenty of opportunities for sharing and learning but we sometimes visit other branches to join in with their activities.
Participation in local, regional and national projects gives us an opportunity to exhibit our own work. In recent years members have joined in with the Capability Brown event, Page 17, 100 Hearts to commemorate the end of WW1 as well as the Guild Challenge. We also have a link with Chatsworth House and our latest project is creating work to exhibit there in March and April, 2019 based on the House and the history of the Cavendish family.
We welcome members of all ages and all levels of experience. Visitors are welcome but limited to 3 visits a year. (We occasionally have a visitor from Canada.)
We meet at 1 pm – 3pm on the last Wednesday of the month at Glossop Cricket and Bowling Club, North Road, Glossop SK13 7AS
There is plenty of free parking and there is a lift to the meeting room.
