We initially received the information from Sue Tyldesley who is very involved with this project. It’s a subject that is very emotive and is of the utmost importance to us as the human race and our future.
I thought rather than make it a Regional challenge it would be better to give you and your members the choice whether you wished to be part of this project. However it would be good if we have a display of branch/members work at our next Regional event- whenever that will be – possibly our Open day next October- more details to follow on that—–
The details and aims of this project are in the link below-
‘It is about 30cm textile panels responding to any aspects of the climate crisis/ environmental breakdown. It starts from one thing that we love, how it is endangered by climate change including our own actions and what we can do about it. The individual panels are to be displayed at the International climate change conference ((COP26) in Glasgow in October 2021 and elsewhere. We are trying to get lots of people to engage- textile enthusiasts and not!
The website include full instructions, an introductory video and a short ‘ meditation’ to help people get started. We are hoping people will use what they already have in the way of materials so it would make a good project this winter’
I hope you feel inspired by this project and will join in.
