http://www.textile21.co.uk‘On The Edge of…’ takes the form of an installation and is the result of a collaboration between members of Textile 21.
The exhibition follows the broad theme of the sea and features large scale works. The title invited each artist to respond to the world in which we live and covers such diverse aspects as, species on the verge of extinction, refugees coming by sea to the UK, the chemical footprint left by humanity for future archaeologists, flotsam and jetsam washed up on the tideline and other concerns related to the sea
This exhibition brings together 8 textile artists who have explored and interpreted the title as they each considered precisely what we are on the edge of, and how the edge of the land becomes a metaphor for the possible triumph or destruction of humanity.
